Amtsberg

Surrounded by meadows, forests and rivers, the relatively young municipality of Amtsberg, with approx. 4,000 inhabitants, offers delightful experiences in the countryside. Whether on foot, on horseback or by bike, exploring the Ore Mountains landscape means leaving your fast-paced everyday life behind you. Its four districts sprang out of rural settlements. Worth seeing are the churches in Dittersdorf and Weissbach as well as the chapel in Schlößchen.

Enjoy the charming view from the Dittersdorfer Höhe hill, which takes in the highest mountains of the Ore Mountains. In the spring, the district of Schlösschen shows its colourful side with a sea of purple crocus flowers. In the Weissbach district, you’ll find the district twice over: the model village “Mini-Weißbach” showcases the buildings complete with pocket-sized figures and lovingly crafted details. The model village is especially delightful at Christmas time, with its Advent house, magical lights and the Pyramid and Nativity Trail. In winter, skiing enthusiasts will love the ski slope near Dittersdorf, which can be reached from the direction of Einsiedel. In summer, the beautifully located outdoor pool offers a welcome change. One highlight is the open-air festival “Leuchtende Steine”, which takes place at the quarry in Dittersdorf at the end of June.
